„It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)“

The world is coming to an end, if this happens in the USAF, will Aviation Warrants be a thing of the past?  The USAF is thinking about Enlisted Pilots!

It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine.

Yes, the Air Force is thinking about enlisted pilots. I thought about it a lot during my 30 year career. I knew and commanded hundreds of men and women who would make excellent pilots. I could have found 50 a year from every base that I was stationed upon. But, the Air Force has always had the ridiculous idea that every pilot should have a college degree because they are potential chiefs of staff! In fact, many of them begin to act like future chiefs of staff around the grade of major and act as if they are „graduating“ from flying airplanes. Enlisted pilots would simply fly airplanes and get better and better at it as their careers progressed. The potential chiefs of staff could command them at wing, squadron and flight level as they scrambled upward. Yes, the Air Force is thinking about it, but not very hard. They equivocate by letting them fly drones, something airplane pilots hate, and „studying“ the problem. If they were serious they would find a few really good enlisted folks and put them into pilot training.
