Overcast and warm here in Mosby’s Confederacy, with „heavy rain“ inbound or so the National Weather Service says.
Item #1 for today– Using a 9mm on a grizzly in Alaska, a VERY interesting story.
I have killed enough bears to know how important shot placement can be, even with large-bore rifles. I was well aware of the limitations of my 9mm pistol, even with Buffalo Bore ammo. I was aiming for a vital area with each shot; because it all took place between 6 and 8 feet, they were not far off. But hitting the head and brain of a highly animated and agitated animal is a difficult shot.
Oh, yes. Check out the pictures. LtCol Cooper always said that you’re only outgunned if you miss, or words to that effect. Not sure I’d like to put the theory to a test like that!
Item #2– Two good links over at XBradTC, the first being a restored German 88mm flak gun. That’d be fun to have. And nice touch on the newsreel-y finishing. He says it was sent over by „ijkvmi88“– anyone know who that is?? I looked in the Alumni Directory and couldn’t match it with anyone.
Item #3– Speaking of enough gun, do you have enough ammo? Yeah, me neither. Let’s get after it. Make it a point in the next two weeks to obtain a good amount of just one caliber. With hunting season coming on, maybe it should be game loads? You decide, but do it. WRSA reminds us of ugliness ahead, and this time next year we might rue our inaction today.
